Waste Management Authority EXHIBITS ATTACHED o Letter from Alameda County Solid Waste Management Authority dated January 21, 1988 o Draft Resolution RECOMMENDATION V Appoint Member & Alternate and Adopt Resolution FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION The City has received a letter from the Alameda County Solid Waste Management Authority indicating that the Authority's existence will be terminated on January 27, 1988 and that the new Alameda County Waste Management' Authority will come into -being on the same date. The legal counsel for the Authority has indicated that this change will necessitate that each member agency of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority designate by Resolution, a member and alternate to represent each member agency on the new Authority effective as of January 27, 1988. The City' s current representatives on the Authority are Pete Snyder, Member and Paul Moffatt, Alternate. Fraley, Secretary SUBJECT: Appointment of Members and Alternates The Alameda County Solid Waste Management Authority will be terminated on January 27, 1988 and the Alameda County Waste Management Authority will be initiated on the same date. The Authority counsel requests that each member agency designate by appropriate procedure the member and alternate to represent the agency on the new "Waste Management Authority" effective as of January 27, 1988. This .is a technicality but one that is necessary to assure that no member's vote on the new Authority can be challenged. This action should be accomplished as soon as possible but no later than the meeting of the Waste Management Authority on February 24, 1988. Please forward a copy of the resolution or letter designating the name of the member and alternate from your agency to serve on the Waste Management Board. Thank you for your assistance in this technical but important matter. WHE:gr cc: Clem Shute, Authority Counsel Each Member and Alternate 1853A RESOLUTION N0. - 88 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ************************** APPOINTING A MEMBER AND ALTERNATE TO THE ALAMEDA COUNTY WASTE. MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY WHEREAS, on February 14,' 1983, the City Council authorized the City's membership in the Alameda County Solid Waste Management Authority and appointed a member and an alternate to represent the City on the Authority; and WHEREAS, the City of Dublin, on November 23, 1987, approved the Joint Powers Agreement authorizing the creation of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby appoint as a member and as an alternate to the Alameda County Waste Management Authority to act on behalf of the City of Dublin. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the appointment of the City's representatives to the new Alameda County Waste Management Authority will be effective January 27, 1988.
