Foss, City Manager SUBJECT: Annual Report by Youth Advisory Committee Prepared by Rhonda Franklin, Management Analyst EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Members of the Youth Advisory Committee will present an Annual Report on the Advisory Committee’s activities and accomplishments during the past year. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council receive the Report. Reviewed By Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: The Youth Advisory Committee is comprised of middle and high school students that are appointed to annual terms by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The most recent term ends May 31, 2016. The general responsibilities of the Youth Advisory Committee, as outlined in the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure, are to:  Provide input on youth services and programming to the Parks and Community Services Commission, City Council, and City Staff.  Address issues that affect youth in the community.  Assist with the promotion and implementation of youth activities.  Generate and present an annual report on the accomplishments of the Youth Advisory Committee. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: A copy of the Staff Report was distributed to members of the Youth Advisory Committee. ATTACHMENTS: None. Youth Mini Grant Program •Dublin High School American Cancer Society Club: $600 –Relay for Life event •Dublin High School Gael Force Robotics: $500 –Worlds •Dublin High School The Dublin Shield: $500 –Published and distributed their magazine to the entire DHS population Splatter •Saturday, September 19, 2015 – Civic Center •Photo Booth •“Yarn -Chow Fun” Safety Fair •Saturday, October 16, 2015 – Civic Center •Assisted with the bounce house •Helped facilitate “Dunk a Deputy” •Assisted with pumpkin decorating •Youth Fee Assistance Program: $750 Tree Lighting Ceremony •Thursday, December 3, 2015 – Civic Center •Assisted Santa Tri -Valley Youth Roundtable •Saturday, January 23, 2016 – Dublin Senior Center •Teens from Dublin, San Ramon, and Danville •Discussed teen trends and future events for all of the Tri -Valley Tri -Valley Teen Job and Career Fair •Saturday, March 5, 2016 – Dublin Senior Center •376 Teens from the Tri-Valley •Over 40 employers •Youth Advisory Committee was Room Hosts –Helped presenters set up for educational seminars –Distributed session evaluation forms –Introduced presenters •“Managing Academic Stress” –17 Participants –Organized as a Joint Session with the City of San Ramon’s Teen Council St. Patrick’s Day •Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2016 – Civic Center •Operated the Youth Advisory Committee Spin and Win booth –Youth Fee Assistance Program $233 •Assisted with booth setup, take down and cleanup Eggstravaganza •Saturday, March 26, 2016 - Emerald Glen Park •Assisted Peter Rabbit & Flopsy and the Egg Hunt Youth Benefit Concert •Sunday, April 10, 2016 – Dublin Senior Center •Youth Fee Assistance Program: $276 •Partnered with the Dublin Senior Advisory Committee Thank you!
