Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson
Al Edge was the only nomination for the position of Chairperson. The Committee unanimously voted Al
Edge as Chairperson.
Beth Wood and Diane Bonetti were nominated for the position of Vice-Chairperson. The Committee
voted and unanimously voted Beth Wood as Vice-Chairperson.
Senior Center Volunteer Recognition
Hudson provided the Committee with an overview of the event and its components. Hudson proposed the
theme for this year's event follow the national theme of"Inspire by Example". The event will be held on
April 19th at the Senior Center. The social hour will start at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.
The menu will be similar to last year's event which included tri-tip, chicken, coleslaw, fruit, baked beans,
corn bread and ice cream. Last year's meal was a barbecue; this year it will be prepared in the kitchen.
Approximately 150 volunteers will be invited and guest tickets can be purchased for $10 each on a space
available basis. CM Wood suggested the Foundation be invited and recognized. The Committee
discussed ways in which to recognize volunteers including acknowledging volunteers by groups, such as
kitchen staff, and acknowledging cumulative hours over the years plus utilizing a brochure.
Holiday Event
The Committee discussed having the event either near Christmas or as an anniversary of the grand
opening. After discussion, it was suggested the event should occur during the winter holidays once the
tree is set up in the Ballroom and Hudson. After much discussion the Committee felt that the event
should be a dessert and coffee "social hour" held in the evening from 7-10 p.m. This event should be a
fluid event where people come and go and it would provide a variety of"common sense" entertainment.
The Committee felt the ticket price on the low end should be $10, and on the high $25. The Committee
suggested having the Foundation help sponsor the event. The question was raised if it was possible to

suggested having the Foundation help sponsor the event. The question was raised if it was possible to
have a no-host bar; Hudson will research this question. Chairperson Edge motioned to table the
discussion until a future Committee meeting. CM Bonetti seconded the motion and the Committee
unanimously approved the motion.
Other Business
Rich Guarienti is now the official representative to the Committee from the Parks and Community
Services Commission.
CM Wood has found an individual who may be interested in sponsoring coffee at the Center. He would
like signage noting the donation as a form of promotion for his company. Hudson will be forwarding the
costs of coffee, cups, etc. to CM Wood.
The team building workshop had been cancelled and an alternate date was discussed. The Committee
suggested March 29th at 9:00 a.m.
Hudson has met with CM Wood and Bonetti regarding the Step Out event planning. The Step Out event
will be renamed Learn Information for Empowerment, L.I.F.E., with a focus on emergency preparedness.
The theme will be "Dare to Prepare" and it will be a kick-off to other workshops to be offered throughout
the year. The event will be more of a community event and will also have a family focus.
Chairman Edge asked the Committee to consider ways in which the members could be available for
comments/discussion from individuals who do not wish to approach Staff. Suggestions included email,
posting home phone numbers in the newsletter or leaving a voicemail.
CM Wood suggested the Committee try again this year to visit other Senior Centers.
Adjournment
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:04 a.m.
