RECOMM[ENDATIONYI" . Consider Request
FINANCIAL STATEMENT $5, 845 - Funds are not available in the
Fiscal Year 1992-93 Budget
DESCRIPTION Correspondence has been received from Dublin
Little League President, Marjorie Wong-Gillmore, requesting the City's
assistance in providing basic bleacher accommodations to Dublin
residents at the Dublin Sports Grounds. Specifically, Little League
would like to have sufficient bleachers so that there is bleacher
seating on either side of each baseball and softball field.
The Dublin Sports Grounds has a total of four baseball fields and two
softball fields. All six fields are utilized by Dublin Little League
for practice and games. In order to have adequate bleacher seating at
each field, a total of 12 bleacher units are needed.
The City currently has eight portable bleacher units for the Dublin
Sports Grounds. The bleachers are in fair condition and were acquired
from the Dublin San Ramon Services District as part of the transfer of
the Sports Grounds and all real property from the District to the
City.
Although Staff has identified the need to replace the existing
bleachers and purchase additional bleachers, funds are not currently
available in the Fiscal Year 1992-93 Budget. However, replacement of
the bleachers has been included as part of the Dublin Sports Grounds
Renovation, Phase I, scheduled for Fiscal Year 1995-96.
In the short term, there is a need for four additional bleachers units
in order meet the request of Dublin Little League. The estimated cost
for four, 15 - foot aluminum bleachers with five rows and handrails is
$5,845. These estimates include sales tax and shipping, but do not
include installation costs.
It is Staff's recommendation that the City Council consider the
request from Dublin Little League. In the event that the Council
would like to pursue the purchase of bleachers, it may be necessary to
authorize an additional appropriation from the City's General Fund
Reserves.
