CALL TO ORDER_ -
The August 24, 2011 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by
Chairperson Vasquez.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Staff Member Gamez introduced to the Committee Adult At-Large appointee Ashley Wolfe. Ms. Wolfe
is a resident of Dublin. By being a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, Ms. Wolfe hopes to make
a difference with youth in the community by encouraging and motivating youth to be successful in any
endeavor they choose.
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING—July 20, 2011
ON A MOTION BY CM SUNG SECONDED BY CM RASTOGI AND BY A UNIANIMOUS
VOTE OF 13-0-0, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF JULY 20,
2011 AS PRESENTED. •

NEW BUSINESS
Overview of Teen Budget
Staff Member Gamez presented an overview of the operating budget for teen programs. Committee
Members had.no specific questions regarding the teen program budget and received the report as
presented.
Subcommittee Reports for Youth Fee Assistance Fundraising, Teen Special Events and the Texting
and Driving Educational Campaign
The Youth Fee Assistance Fundraising Subcommittee is still formulating ideas for fundraising activities.
They will give more information at the next meeting. •
The Special Event Subcommittee is working with Staff on the planning and coordinating of the teen
special events.
CM Vasquez chair of the Texting and Driving Subcommittee, presented to members an example of a
public service announcement video on texting and driving which CM Vasquez found through her research
on this topic. CM Vasquez reported that the subcommittee will look into what it would entail to create a
similar type of video and show it to the students at the high school. CM Vasquez also discussed the
possibility of organizing informational fairs or rallies on the high school campus. CM Vasquez indicated
the subcommittee would like to change the title from Texting and Driving Educational Campaign
Subcommittee to Distracted Driving Educational Campaign.
The Youth Advisory Committee Members concurred with the recommended subcommittee title change.
