CALL TO ORDER .
The November 18, 2009 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:10 p.m. at the
Shannon Community Center by Chairperson Le.

ROLL CALL
Committee Members (CM) Present: Van Le, Marcos Castro, Gabriel Vasquez, Vivian Sung, Tommy
Cunnie, Aslan Brown, Shirley Chen, Cam Tran, Alex Rogers, Taylor King,Jasmine Bafaiz,
Committee Members Absent: Alka Pande, Christopher Hair, Justin Minor
Liaison Present: Annie Arcuri, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison
Staff Present: Frank Luna, Angela Gamez
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS—
The City of Dublin Poet Laureate, Ms. Ronnie Holland, provided Committee Members an overview of the
Poet Laureate's responsibilities. Ms. Holland stated that the main responsibility of the Poet Laureate is to
advance the literary arts in Dublin by providing poetry at civic events, program development, hosting
poetry readings and collaborating with other poet laureates, literary groups and schools. Ms. Holland read
to the Committee Members the poem she wrote for the dedication and grand opening for the Shannon
Community Center.
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-October 28, 2009
ON A MOTION BY CM BROWN SECONDED BY CM ROGERS AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE,
THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF OCTOBER 28,2009.

NEW BUSINESS
Youth Fee Assistance Fundraising, Teen Website and Youth Tutoring Subcommittee Reports
Committee Member Castro gave an update for the Teen Website Subcommittee. CM Castro is still
creating templates for the website for subcommittee members to review. CM Castro is working with Staff
Member Gamez to complete this task:
Youth Fee Assistance Subcommittee Member Hair was absent and will provide an update at the next
scheduled Youth Advisory Committee meeting.
Tutoring Subcommittee Member Arcuri provided an update to the members regarding the progress of the
program. Subcommittee Member Arcuri stated that she needed tutors who could volunteer twice a week.
'Arcuri asked Committee Members to recruit volunteer tutors to assist in meeting this need.
OTHER BUSINESS
Staff Member Luna reminded the Youth Advisory Committee Members that the City of Dublin tree
lighting ceremony is December 3, 2009. Staff Member Gamez will email and call the Committee
Members who volunteered to work the event.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
