Committee Members participated in games to enhance their team building skills. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-June 24, 2009 ON A MOTION BY CM HAIR AND SECONDED BY CM CASTRO THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF JUNE 24,2009. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS—None • UNFINISHED BUSINESS—None NEW BUSINESS { Youth Advisory Committee Goals and Objectives for 2009-2010 Youth Advisory Committee Members discussed Committee goals for the 2009-2010 term. Staff Ma—t:Yr Luna reviewed last year's goals and objectives with the Members. The Members came up with several ideas including a tutoring program and a fundraising activity for the City of Dublin Youth Scholarship Program. The following are the Goals and Objectives established by the Youth Advisory Committee for the 2009-2010 term. GOAL 1 Establish an after school tutoring assistance program for students in Dublin elementary schools. The programs will assist students needing help with various academic subjects. —S Objective 1.1 Establish a tutoring g assist ance program subcommittee. � � Objective 1.2 Establish program plan and present to Youth Advisory Committ Objective 1.3 Begin program second session of the After School Recreation Program. - L GOAL 2 Conduct a fundraising activity to raise funds for the Dublin Youth Scholarship Program. Objective 1.1 . Establish a fundraising subcommittee. Objective 1.2 Work with staff in the planning of the event. Objective 1.3 Fundraising activity to take place in late February or early March. Teen Website Subcommittee Staff Member Luna presented the Members the Teen Website on the screen in the Council Chambers. Committee Members had the opportunity view the website and provide feedback. Feedback from the Members included having updated games on the game page, more job listings for teens on the job page, and having a different picture on the home page on a quarterly basis. Staff solicited interested Youth Advisory Committee Members to serve on this subcommittee. The following is the list of Committee Members who volunteered to serve on this committee: CM's Castro, Schaarschmidt, Sung, and Brown. They will meet before the next meeting and provide a report to the Youth Advisory Committee. Spring 2009 Teen Quarterly Report Staff Member Luna presented the Spring Teen Quarterly report to the Members. The report provided information on teen events, classes, Student Union Program, and the teen website. Staff Member Gamez asked Committee Members to provide ideas for leisure classes that teens may be interested in participating. Committee Members ideas for leisure classes or activities included more sports related programs and low cost trips to various amusement parks in the area. OTHER BUSINESS Brief Informational Only Reports from Committee Members,Sub Committees, and Staff CM Brown stated that on October 24, 2009, the day is designated as "Make a Difference Day". On this day, community members are asked to volunteer their time in a community service activity. The activity could involve painting or general clean-up. He asked if the Youth Advisory Committee was interested in helping out on this day. Staff Member Luna stated that there is a similar day in April during the "Dublin Pride Week"which has volunteers doing community service projects throughout the City.
