CALL TO ORDER
The August 26, 2009 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the
Dublin Civic Center Regional Meeting Room,by Chairperson Lee.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-July 22, 2009
CM MINOR ADVISED THE COMMITTEE THAT THE JULY 22, 2009 MINUTES OMITTTED
HIS NAME FROM BEING PRESENT AT THE MEETING. ON A MOTION BY CM MINOR
SECONDED BY CM CASTRO AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO
APPROVE THE MINUTES OF JULY 22,2009 AS CORRECTED.

NEW BUSINESS
Teen Website Subcommittee Report
Website Subcommittee Members presented an update of their meeting. Their goal is to redesign the teen
website homepage by adding more 3-D graphics, pictures, and roll over buttons. Staff Member Gamez
stated that they are planning to change the picture page and adding more links to other useful sites.
Committee Member Hair suggested contacting local businesses and having discount coupons posted on
the website. Committee Member Hair stated that having various coupons available online, may attract
more people to visit the site.
Youth Scholarship Fundraising and Youth Tutoring Subcommittee Report
Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison and Tutoring Subcommittee Member Acuri
suggested that the two subcommittees work together to accomplish the two goals of the fundraising for
the Youth Scholarship Program and the Tutoring Program. Subcommittee Member Acuri suggested YAC
Members tutor elementary school students in various subjects and ask for a donation of$5.00 per session.
Money collected will be deposited to the Youth Scholarship Program. Staff Member Luna suggested
choosing specific elementary schools to target as possible tutoring sites. Staff Member Luna suggested
having the Tutoring and Youth Scholarship Fundraising Subcommittees meet weekly and come up with a
program plan to accomplish theses goals. Commissioner Member Acuri volunteered to chair the Tutoring
Subcommittee. Committee Members Rogers, Brown, Cunnie and Pande volunteered to serve on the
Tutoring Subcommittee. Committee Members Le, Vasquez, King, Tran and Hair volunteered to serve on
the Youth Scholarship Fundraising Subcommittee.
Teen Special Events
Staff Member Gamez presented the proposed teen special event calendar for the 2009-2010 year. Staff
Member Gamez gave examples of the previous year's teen events which included a Dive-In Movie,
Capture the Cauldron and Middle School Dances. Staff Member Gamez asked for the Committee's input
on teen events for this school year. Committee Members ideas included: teen concert, paintball trip,
comedy night, poetry slam, teen lock-in and battle of the bands. The Committee recommended the
following events offered this school year: comedy night, poetry slam, broomball, battle of the bands, and
a teen lock-in. Staff Member Gamez will finalize the teen event calendar for the 2009-2010 school year to
reflect the Committee's ideas. Staff Member Gamez with cross reference the Dublin Unified School
District calendar and City,of Dublin event calendars to ensure no conflicts occur when establishing the
special event calendar for the 2009-2010 school year.
