CALL TO ORDER
The June 24, 2009 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:07 p.m. at the
Dublin Civic Center Regional Meeting Room, by Staff Member Frank Luna.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Staff Member Luna.
ROLL CALL
Committee Members (CM) Present: Alex Rodgers, Alka Pande, Gabriela Vasquez, Jasmine Bafaiz,
Krista Schaarschmidt, Marcos Castro, Shirley Chen, Taylor King, Tommy Cunnie, Van Le, Vivian Sung,
Justin Minor, Christopher Hair, Cam Tran
Committee Members Absent: Asian Brown
Liaison Present: Annie Arcuri, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS—
Introduction and Ice Breaker Activity
Staff Member Gamez coordinated an activity to engage Committee Members to interact with each other.
Committee Members participated in a game to help break the ice and utilize team work skills.
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-April 22, 2009
ON A MOTION BY CM MINOR AND SECONDED BY CM ROGERS THE COMMITTEE
VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF APRIL 22, 2009. BY UNANIMOUS VOTE THE
COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT WHO WERE ON THE 2008-2009 YOUTH ADVISORY
COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES. NEWLY APPOINTED COMMITTEE
MEMBERS ABSTAINED FROM VOTING.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS—None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS—None
NEW BUSINESS
Election of Youth Advisory Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson
Committee Members nominated various members for the position of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
ON A MOTION BY CM MINOR SECONDED BY CM HAIR AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE,
THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE ELECTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBER
VAN LE TO THE POSITION OF CHAIRPERSON FOR 2009-2010 TERM.
ON A MOTION BY CM LE SECONDED BY CM MINOR AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE
COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE ELECTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBER
CHRISTOPHER HAIR TO THE POSITION OF VICE-CHARIPERSON FOR 2009-2010 TERM
Youth Advisory Committee Responsibilities
Staff Member Frank Luna distributed the City of Dublin Commissioner Resource Handbook to Youth
_Advisory Committee Members. Staff reviewed the Bylaws and Rules of Procedures for the Youth
Advisory Committee. Staff Members Luna and Gamez asked if there were any questions on the Bylaws
and Rules of Procedures. Staff recommended that Committee Member review the Commissioner's
Handbook at home and if there are any questions bring them to the next scheduled Youth Advisory
meeting in July. Staff Member Luna also reviewed with Committee Members "Robert's Rules" of
parliamentary procedures to properly conduct a meeting.
Teen Special Events
Staff Member Gamez solicited ideas from Committee Member on possible activities the Youth Advisory
Committee Members would like to see offered to teens in the community during the 2009-2010 year. The
following were previous ideas listed along with new ideas from Youth Advisory Committee Members:
Youth Music Showcase, Capture the Creature, Dubtown Jam, Middle School Dances, Dive-In Movie, Tri-
Valley Teen Job Fair, Joint High School Dance, BBQ/Field day in the park, Teen Lock-in.
Committee Members would like to plan a lock-in event in August. Staff Member Gamez stated that it
may to difficult to plan an event on short notice. Committee Member Minor volunteered to research this
idea and will work with Staff Member Gamez to plan the event.
OTHER BUSINESS
8.1 Brief Informational Only Reports from Committee Members, Sub Committees, and Staff
Chairperson Le suggested the Committee form a team for the Relay for Life event on July 11th,to support
the American Cancer Society. Committee Members were asked to contact Chairperson Le if interested.
Chairperson Le also stated that she would like to see more collaboration between the Youth Advisory
Committee Members the Dublin High School Leadership class.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
