FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: Staff and the Subcommittees for the Teen Website, St. Patrick's Day
Festival Booth, Video Game Tournament and "Bearing is Caring" fundraiser will update the Youth
Advisory Committee Members on the progress of each of these events.
The Youth Advisory Committee identified St. Patrick's Day Festival Booth, Video Game Tournament
and the "Bearing is Caring" fundraiser as three of their goals for the 2008-2009 term. The Website.
Subcommittee was established in 2006 when the teen website www.Dubtownteens.com was launched.
• The Teen Website Subcommittee is responsible for assisting Staff with the website, and
recommending new features and adding additional photos.
• The Youth Advisory Committee will plan fundraising activities at a booth during the St. Patrick's
Day Festival. Committee Members will have a booth offering various games and having printed
materials regarding the Parks and Community Services Department teen programs. Any proceeds
collected will be donated to a specific charity to be determined.
• The Video Game Tournament Subcommittee is responsible for organizing and planning a video
game tournament for teens. Subcommittee members will discuss resources needed to successfully
hold this event.
• "Bearing is Caring" is a fundraising activity which Committee Members will sell wristbands.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase teddy bears for children in local hospitals
which will be determined by the Subcommittee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Youth Advisory Committee receive the report.
