CALL TO ORDER The May 28, 2008 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:04 p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center Regional Meeting Room, by Chairperson Morgan King, Jr. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson King. ROLL CALL Committee Members (CM) Present: Morgan King Jr., Justin Minor, Alex Rogers, Emily Edlund, Asian Brown, Taylor King, Adam Brissey Committee Members Absent: Jenny Lutz, Mike Pecota, Bre'Auna Pontiflet, Matt Pecota, Isabella Europa, Kevin Jung, Jessica Rose, Camnhung Tran, Liaison Present: Gabriella Lorenzo, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Representative Staff Present: Frank Luna ORAL COMMUNICATIONS—None MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-April 23, 2008 ON A MOTION BY CM MINOR SECONDED BY CM BROWN AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF APRIL 23,2008 WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-None UNFINISHED BUSINESS Youth Advisory Committee End of Year Activity Staff Member Luna reminded the Committee of the End of the Year Activity, which is an excursion to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The previously chosen date of May 31 is not feasible, so June 21 has been chosen instead. Staff Member Gamez sent out emails with specific information to all Committee Members to try and choose a date that most Members can attend. If members cannot attend the end of the year activity, Staff will try to provide an alternative excursion if majority of the Members can't attend. NEW BUSINESS Youth Advisory Committee Application for 2008-2009 School Year Staff Member Luna suggested that Committee members re-apply for the Youth Advisory Committee for the 2008-2009 school year as well as recruit more youth to apply. New changes on the application include a mandatory letter of recommendation in addition to a more in-depth questionnaire. Applications will be solicited at the leadership classes at the middle and high schools. They will be due August 1St Youth Advisory Committee Annual Report for 2007-2008 Term Staff Member Luna asked for volunteers to prepare a powerpoint presentation of the Committee's accomplishments for the 2007-2008 term to be presented to City Council. CM Minor and CM Rogers expressed interest in serving on a subcommittee to create the powerpoint presentation. Staff Members Luna and Gamez will provide assistance. OTHER BUSINESS • The Dive-In event is scheduled for Friday, June 6, at the Dublin Swim Center from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Students are invited to swim and "hang out" at 7pm before the movie begins at dusk. Snacks will be served. The Middle School Dance is scheduled for Friday, May 30, at Wells Middle School. Committee Members are encouraged to attend or volunteer.
