DRAFT MINUTES OF JANUARY 10 2007__.
CALL TO ORDER
The January 10, 2007 special meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:32 PM
at the Dublin Public Library Program Room, by Vice-Chairperson Morgan King, Jr.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-November 29, 2006
ON A MOTION BY CM CHAPIN SECONDED BY CM MIKE PECOTA AND BY UNANIMOUS
VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 29, 2006.

NEW BUSINESS
City Council Goals and Objectives
Parks and Community Services Manager, Paul McCreary, presented preliminary City Council Goals and
Objectives. Committee Members were asked to provide input on the Preliminary City Council Goals and
Objectives for 2007-2008 and to determine whether there were objectives related to youth and teens that
should be proposed for 2007-2008. The Committee Members examined the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Teen
Program Budget and discussed the expenditures related to the Teen Website and Student Union.
Members also discussed the Committee's goals and objectives for the term as well as the City Council
Objectives proposed by Staff. These objectives included expanding the Senior Center hours and
programming and expanding the Day on the Glen festival to include a 25th anniversary concert and
fireworks show. The outdoor movie event, which was held September 29, 2006 at Emerald Glen Park,
would be expanded as well, since more than a thousand people attended the event.
The Committee talked about offering more sports activities for youth and teens. Suggestions included
offering a,variety of infoiinal and formal sports to teens at a minimal cost to participants. The Committee
discussed the fact that spots on High School sports teams are few and there are not enough opportunities
to continue competition in sports. The Committee proposed recommending a high priority goal of
expanding sports-related events for youth and teens on the City Council's preliminary goals and
objectives for 2007-2008.
ON A MOTION BY VICE-CHAIRPERSON KING SECONDED BY CM MIKE PECOTA AND,
BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO INCLUDE A HIGH PRIORITY
GOAL TO EXPAND SPORTS-RELATED EVENTS FOR YOUTH AND TEENS ON THE CITY
COUNCIL'S PRELIMINARY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 2007-2008.
