Youth Music Showcase-Friday,January 9,2009 ________H , Various bands are scheduled to perform at this event.which will be held at the Dublin High School Cafeteria room. Red House Music Center is scheduled to have booth with information. The showcase is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM and the cost is $6.00. Broomball- Sunday, January 25,2009 Broomball is a fun & exciting game played on the, ice in your sneakers. For $15.00 you get to play broomball, eat pizza and listen to music. The event is for high school students only. The event is scheduled from 11:00 PM to 12:15 PM at Dublin Iceland Inside Out Campout- February 20,2009-1 ,-.----„—,,,z _ 77 Bring your sleeping bag and flashlight to the Emerald Glen Activity Center for a night of fuif,'games-anu camping activities. The event is scheduled from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next day. The event is for students in the 9th through 12th grades. Cost is $20 and includes a light snack, dessert and continental breakfast. Middle School Dance- Friday, March 27,2009(, ' . �s _J � �c The dance will take place at Wells Middle School from 7.00 PM to 10:00 PM. This is a free event for 14 to 18 year olds. Don't miss your chance to get lots of information, attend short workshops, participate in practice interviews, and learn how to dress for success. Numerous employers will be on site. 0 Capture the Flag- Friday April 17,2009 Apply your camouflage and join other teens as you lurk around Alamo Creek Park after dark searching for and capturing your opponents' flag. Be sure to wear clothes that can get wet and dirty. The event is scheduled for 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM for students in the 6th through 12th grades. Cost is $5.00 with student I.D. • Teen Concert- Friday April 24,2009 Various bands are scheduled to perform at this event which will be held at Dublin High School. The concert is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM and the cost is $6.00. p1,Vliddle School Dance-Friday, May 1,2009 . W.The 2❑d scheduled middle school dance will take place at Shannon Community Center from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Cost for the dance is $5.00 per student and the dances are open to all Dublin middle school students. "Dub Town" Jam- Friday, May 15,2009 Activities planned for the event include: 3 on 3 basketball tournament, slam dunk competition, a half . court shot contest, and face painting. Also, there will be jumpers and a local radio station will be providing background music, and refreshments will be available to all participants. The event is schedule from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Emerald Glen Park and is free to all participants. Fifth Grade Mixer- Friday, May 29,2009 This will be a free event for students in the fifth grade to receive information on what to expect when going into middle school. Students from Fallon and Wells Middle School's leadership class will be ' available to answer any questions the fifth graders may have. Music and snack food will be available throughout the event; The event is schedule from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dublin Library Community Room. Dive-In Movie Friday,June 12,2009 In 2008 a "Dive-In" Movie was offered at the Dublin Swim Center. The movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off' was featured. The event will take place at the Dublin Swim Center from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Cost for the event is $6.00 per student. Staff will also solicit volunteers to assist in the implementation of the events as well as volunteering on the date of the events. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Youth Advisory Committee receive the report. 2of2 •
