Youth Advisory Committee Goals and Objectives for 2006-2007
YAC members were asked to identify committee goals and objectives for the 2006-2007 year. The
committee decided to keep the implementation of a"Dive-In" outdoor movie at the Dublin Swim Center,
an idea from the previous year's Youth Advisory Committee, as one of the goals. Many sports-related
ideas were suggested, such as a skateboard competition, field game day with different sports, Mini-
Olympics, triathlon, A's, game trip for teenagers, and a Senior Buddy trip to an A's game, in which
teenagers would take an intergenerational trip with senior citizens. Other popular ideas included a Big
Brother/Big Sister mentorship, community project, teen dance club, charity event, and a video game
tournament. YAC members voted on these suggestions and eventually decided on the charity event and
community project to be their goals for the year, including the "Dive-In" movie. For ideas for the charity
event, YAC members came up with an ice-skating event, an auction, a Relay-for-life team, and a'dance.
The committee decided to use the dance for the charity event, and suggested that the entry fee for the
dance be money or canned food, clothing, and shoes. As for the community project, YAC members
suggested painting park benches, doing a clean up, creating mosaic tables, sundials, and
planting/trimming bushes at parks. YAC members finally.decided to do a community clean up, perhaps at
a creek or at the Iron Horse Trial. The following are the Goals and Objectives established by the Youth
Advisory Committee for the 2006-2007 year.
