Teets Website
Youth Advisory Committee Members were updated on the website content as well as the monthly
summary of visitors to the website. Members suggested including a list of restaurants on the site with
corresponding images of the food, dress code information, and a list of ayerage prices. It was also
suggested that articles and editorials from the Dublin High School newspaper "Dublin Shield" be
included on the site. Members would also like to see art submissions, wrestling pictures and wrestling
match statistics, weekly polls, riddles, jokes of the day, and movie reviews from teen perspectives
included on the website. Since the online games were some of the most popular features on the site, it
was recommended that the games should be updated each month. In addition, YAC Members mentioned
that it would be a good idea to post corresponding pictures next to a list of special events. Another idea
was to have a calendar on which teenagers could click to obtain information of teen events on specific
.dates.
NE J'V BUSINESS
Fall 2005 Teets Onarterh,Report
YAC Members reviewed the Fall 2005 Teen Programs Quarterly Report. The report was presented by
Recreation Technician Beasley. Committee Members suggested, that because the attendance for Capture
the Cauldron had been so large last year that the event be split up into two, one for middle school students
•
•
and another for high school•students. The ideal situation is to have fifty to sixty teenagers playing at a
given time. Another popular event the Committee would like to see continue was the Youth Music
Showcase. Teen bands are generally well-received in the Tri-Valley area. •
Teen Fall Programs
Recreation Technician Beasley solicited ideas for teen programs for the fall quarter. Ideas for future teen
events included having a dive-in movie at the pool which would be popular among youth. After school
basketball programs, summer basketball tournaments, and special events such as "Dodgeball" were also
suggested. Other ideas included having an open-mic night or a talent show event in which teenagers
could share their respective talents. Additionally, members suggested having Capture the Flag events in
open fields in addition to those held at Shannon Park. YAC could also try hosting,Karaoke events again,
although they have fallen in popularity in recent years.
•
Youth Advisory Committee End of Year Activity
YAC members also took a vote to determine the Committee's end-of-year activity, and it was determined
• that the committee would be attending a rock-climbing activity. Recreation Technician Beasley also
informed Committee Members that there might be a "get:together" barbecue at CM Morgan King Jr.'s
house. Mr. and Mrs. King volunteered their home for the barbecue. The specific date and time will be
communicated to Committee Members when available.
