DESCRIPTION: A major function of the Youth Advisory Committee is to provide
input to Staff regarding recreational activities and special events for youth and teens in the community
through participation in'the program planning and decision making process. To establish the framework
to accomplish this, the Youth Advisory Committee Bylaws and Rules of Procedure contain the following
general responsibilities.
VIII. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMITTEE
A. Provide input on youth services and programming to the Parks and Community Services
Commission, City Council and City Staff.
B. •Address issues that affect youth in the community.
C. Assist with the promotion and implementation of youth activities.
D. Generate an annual report on the progress of the Youth Advisory Committee.
Additionally, Committee Members are expected to attend all regular meetings and subcommittee
meetings as assigned; attend the activities planned and sponsored by the Youth Advisory
Committee; and promote youth activities and provide support for successful implementation of
youth activities and events.
Goals and objectives are important to establish so that Committee Members can describe what they want
to accomplish and how to get it done. If goals and objectives are not established, it will be difficult for.
Committee Members to stay focused, because they will not know their purpose. A goal describes what a
specific activity or program is about and what it will accomplish. An objective is an action statement. It
is more specific than a goal. Following are the goals and objectives from last year:
