HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.2 Teen Events OFD0.6� • • 19 • `$2 AGENDA STATEMENT ��% YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITEE MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 25, 2006 • SUBJECT: Teen Events Report Prepared by, Frank Luna, Recreation Supervisor • • ATTACHMENTS: None • • RECOMMENDATION: Receive report and solicit ideas from Committee Members for potential teen events. • FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Staff will solicit ideas from Committee Members regarding potential teen events to be offered by the Parks and Community Services Department. In 2005-2006 a variety of teen events were implemented to offer teens in the community activities for their age group (see chart below). _ These events gave the opportunity for youths to engage in a positive and safe environment while enjoying the company of their friends. The Youth Music Showcase and the Dublin Teen Idol were events that - encouraged teens' creativity through music. • 2005-2006 Teen Events Capture the Cauldron 158 Karaoke &Pizza Night - Q-Zar Night - Teen Lock-In - Extreme Bowling - • Youth Music Showcase 264 • Boomers Blast • Dub Town Jam 350 • March Madness 87 Tri-Valley Teen Job Fair 1150 Dublin Teen Idol-Day on the Glen 75 Total attendance: 2084 • Currently there are ten Teen Special Events plus the Dubtown Jam and Teen Job Fair in the budget for the • 2006-2007 year. Teen events tentatively planned for the year include: • • COPIES TO: ITEM NO.: 7.2 G:\YAC\06\07AGENDASTMNT\7.2 • • • Capture the Cauldron • Capture the Creature • Youth Music Showcase I &II •• March Madness • Middle School Dances planned for Winter, and Spring • • Dive In Movie at the Dublin Swim Center • Tri-Valley Youth Concert in conjunction with the Cities of San Ramon and Danville. Staff would like input from Committee Members to ensure that the events offered are events which will draw interest from teens in Dublin. Also, the input solicited by the Committee Members will assist Staff • in planning future teen events. RECOMMENDATION: •Staff recommends that the Youth Advisory Committee receive the report and solicit ideas from Committee Members for potential teen events. • • • • • • • • • • • 2 of 2
