MINUTES OF:May 2, 2002 CALL TO ORDER The June 6, 2002 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:45 p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center by Cm.L. Arcuri. PLEDGE OFALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Cm. L. Arcuri. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: C. Arcuri, L. Arcuri, J. Bao, K. Laird, Y. Phang, A. Pillar, L. Smith, M. West, S. West, and S. Williams Alt. Committee Members: J. Chan Committee Members Absent: Cm. K Champlin, Cm. C. Champlin, Cm. C Futterer, Cm. S. Kahn Liaisons Present: Celotti,Hootman, and Neabeack Staff Present: Siu ORAL COMMUNICATIONS-None MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-May 2,2002 ON A MOTION BY CM. M. WEST, SECONDED BY CM. S. WILLIAMS, AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE,THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF MAY 2, 2002, CHANGING CM. HOOTMAN TO LIAISON HOOTMAN,AND CM. CHAN TO ALT. CM. CHAN UNDER NEW BUSINESS. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-None UNFINISHED BUSINESS Youth Advisory Committee "Wrap- Up Meeting" The committee received the report and provided input on the format and activities for the final meeting of this year. Due to conflicting schedules, an alternate date for meeting was proposed by Recreation Coordinator Siu. Cm. Laird suggested not having a tailgate dinner, instead taking BART to the game and making alternate dinner plans. ON A MOTION BY CM. K. LAIRD, SECONDED BY CM. S. WEST, AND CM. S. WILLIAMS, AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO CHANGE THE DATE FROM JULY 1 TO JULY 5, 2002,AND DEPART AT 5:00 P.M.FOR THE EVENT. NEW BUSINESS Dub Town Jam Evaluation- The Committee received the report and provided input on Dub Town Jam. Suggestions included not using an earth ball, incorporating the skate park more directly into the event, grouping the activities more closely together, letting park regulars (like skaters) know about the event in advance, placing activities on the burm between the basketball courts and the skate park, have more snacks (like chips and salsa) in addition to food, rope off the area behind the skate park and basketball courts because due to the risk of liability, move the lounge area closer to the music, or use for performers, have a first aid kit at the sign in booth,using the Civic Center location to attract more high school teens, as it has in the past. The committee liked the mix of karaoke and music,the amount of food. ON A MOTION BY CM. L. SMITH, SECONDED BY CM. C. ARCURI, AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE REPORT ON DUB TOWN JAM. SUBCOMMITTEES AND REPORTS Report:Alameda County Fair Teen Day Recreation Coordinator Siu reviewed the Teen Day at the Alameda County Fair information and selected volunteers. Report: VAC Applications for 2002/03 Recreation Coordinator Siu reviewed the progress of applications for the 2002-2003 and encouraged. Cm. M. West will get applications to the leadership class and interact class at Dublin High School. Cm. L. Smith suggested putting up a table at Dublin High School's club fair, during the second week of school. OTHER BUSINESS Brief Informational Only Reports from Youth Advisory Committee Members and/or Staff Recreation Coordinator Siu mentioned the Relay for Life and asked for volunteers for the Kids Kamp and all of it's activities.
