HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.1 Dub Town Jam Evaluation CITY OF DUBLIN YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE AGENDA STATEMENT MEETING DATE:June 6, 2002 SUBJECT: Dub Town Jam Evaluation ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive report and provide feedback on the Dub Town Jam event. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Dub Town Jam "Red, White and Blue" was held on Friday, May 17th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Emerald Glen Park. The event was very successful, with 242 teens signed in, and 350 estimated at the park. Teens from all over the Tri-Valley area attended Dub Town Jam. According to the sign in sheets, Wells Middle School students made up one-half of the teens that attended, while Dublin High School students comprised one-quarter of the participants, and teens from other local schools made up the other quarter. Middle school teens made up two-thirds of the attendees and one-third were high school students Teens signed in at the Y.A.C. Booth and were given a patriotic themed necklace. Free food was available for the first 300 teens including hot dogs, soda, water, chips, and candy. Activities for this event included games such as a basketball shoot out, Karaoke, an inflatable obstacle course, an earth ball, and a lounge area. Giveaways included free raffle prizes, goody bags, patriotic colored candy and pinwheels. Entertainment was provided by Systematic Jams Productions. Despite the success of this year's event Staff suggests that the following should be included next year: 1) Have a wider variety of activities for participants. 2) Conduct a pre-event meeting with Committee members to review responsibilities.
