MINUTES OF December 6, 2001
CALL TO ORDER
The December 6, 2001 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:45 p.m. at the Dublin Civic
Center by Cm. L. Arcuri.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-November 1, 2001
ON A MOTION BY LIAISON HOOTMAN, SECONDED BY CM. L. SMITH, AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE,
THE COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 1, 2001,CHANGING CM C.
HOOTMAN TO LIAISON HOOTMAN UNDER OTHER BUSINESS.

NEW BUSINESS
Dub Town Jam-
Recreation Coordinator Siu reviewed the report with the committee and received the following input from the Committee
on various topics:
Date/Time-May 17, 2002, 5:00- 8:00 p.m.
Theme-Fiesta, Mardi Gras, Red, White, and Blue, `On The Farm',Fantasy, `Go Digital/Get Down'
Event Activities-Dance revolution, radio station Z 95.7 with giveaways, dunking contest, earth ball games, and
inflatables such as a bungee run, bounce house, and an obstacle course
Event Entertainment-Live band such as UVR(A local teen band)
Location-Emerald Glen Park, Shannon Park, or at the Civic Center
Marketing/Promotions-Professional looking glossy flyers; only mention the event a month before in school
Announcements; then begin handing out flyers 2-3 weeks before the event, mention the event in Dublin High
School's video bulletin, and distribute flyers on DHS and Wells campus.
Sponsors/Prizes-Look into revising the Junior Leader Program donation list to enlarge the Dub Town Jam
donation list
Food/Drinks-Free hot dogs,watermelon,popcorn, cotton candy, soda and water
ON A MOTION BY CM. J. BAO, SECONDED BY CM. S. WILLIAMS, AND BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE
COMMITTEE VOTED TO ACCEPT MAY 17TH, 2001 FROM 5:00- 8:00 P.M. AS THE DATE AND TIME FOR
DUB TOWN JAM AND ALL OTHER ITEMS PERTAINING TO DUB TOWN JAM WILL BE DETERMINED
BY THE DUB TOWN JAM SUBCOMMITTEE.
SUBCOMMITTEES AND REPORTS
Report:Alameda County Fair Youth Day
Recreation Coordinator Siu described the upcoming Youth Day at the Alameda County Fair and the opportunity to have
the winners from the Youth Music Showcase to perform at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. The Committee was
interested,providing that there will be enough YAC members available to attend during the summertime.
Report:Snowboard Trip
Recreation Coordinator Siu reviewed the details and gave out flyers for the upcoming January 21, 2002 Snowboarding
Trip Kirkwood Ski Resort.
Report: YAC Attack
Recreation Specialist Quigley announced that the next meeting for the Y.A.C. Attack workshop will be on Monday,
December 10, 2001 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Shannon Community Center Preschool Room.
Report: YAC Shirts
Recreation Specialist Quigley showed the updated design for the T-shirts, which should be ready by the January Y.A.C.
meeting.
Report:Solar Extreme Bowling
Recreation Coordinator Siu discussed the upcoming December 8th Solar Extreme Bowling Event and asked the
Committee Members to come to the event early to assist with setup and sign-in. Committee Members reported a few
tickets had been sold by that time.
Report:Karaoke and Coffee Night
Recreation Specialist Quigley reported that the event went very well, with an attendance of 72 teens. The committee
recommended on waiting a while before holding the next karaoke night. Also, the Y.A.C. should consider teaming up
with DHS and VCHS leadership to offer the next karaoke night. Tongue glow sticks were a popular aspect of this event.
OTHER BUSINESS
Brief Informational Only Reports from Youth Advisory Committee Members and/or Staff
Recreation Specialist Quigley gave out a list of proposed Y.A.C. activities until June 2002 put together by the Teen
Events subcommittee.
Liaison Hootman mentioned Breakfast With Santa and the new youth volleyball program that is currently being planned
for spring 2002.

Being no further business,the meeting was adjourned at 8:52 p.m.
