SUBJECT: Dublin's History and Antique Share Day

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: As part of the goals for 2003-2004 for the Heritage Center the
Dublin City Council rated as a High Priority: "sponsor a day in which the community can bring artifacts,
antiques or photographs to the Dublin Heritage Center for review by local historians and/or antique
experts".
This program will invite all members of the community to come to the Heritage Center and share their
family history through photographs and artifacts that may relate to Dublin's past. This will be an
informal open house atmosphere with refreshments and open exchange from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
Saturday,May 1,2004.
The public will be encouraged to bring old photographs and have them scanned for public record. Staff
will be on hand to scan photos and return the original on the spot. There will also be an antique expert on
hand to help evaluate family heirlooms and.interesting items. It will also be publicized that the Heritage
Center is in need of items to become a permanent part of the Heritage Center collection
Publicity for the event will be through the Guide, the Tri-Valley Herald and the Valley Times and flyers
throughout the community.
RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Heritage and Cultural Arts
Commission approve the event or provide alternate direction.
