FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: On March 31, 2003 the City Council conducted the annual Goals
and Objectives Study Session. Shown below are the adopted 2003-2004 Goals and Objectives related to
Heritage and Cultural Arts along with the ranking of the City Council. Please note that Objectives 10, 11
and 12 were not on the original list considered by the Commission at the February 13, 2003 meeting; these
objectives were added by the City Council.
# COUNCIL PROPOSED OBJECTIVE
PRIORITY
1. High Complete Freeway Underpass Art at Dublin Boulevard &Amador Valley Boulevard.
2. High Work with Dublin Fine Arts Foundation to complete Art in the Parks projects for
Emerald Glen Park, Bray Commons and Dolan Neighborhood Parks.
3. High Develop a Public Art Master Plan.
4. High Complete Public Art Bus Shelter Project in Downtown Dublin.
5. High Refurbish exhibit space within the Murray Schoolhouse to provide a fresh setting that
will optimally highlight Dublin's history.
6. High Sponsor programs and exhibits at the Heritage Center that will emphasize Dublin's
culture and heritage.
7. High Sponsor a day in which the community can bring artifacts, antiques or photographs to
the Dublin Heritage Center for review by local historians and/or antique experts.
8. High Complete the process of placing Old St. Raymond's Church and Murray Schoolhouse
on the national Register of Historic Places.
9. High Expand the Activity Guide to include a map with the location description and photos
of public art in the City.
10. High Expand Activity Guide to include historical sites.
11. High Explore feasibility of regional cemetery.
12. High Explore regional approach to performing arts in the Tri-Valley.
13. High Commission public art for the Senior Center.

14. High Expand cultural arts class opportunities to the community.

15. High Pursue replacement of the family history signs in the Dublin Cemetery.
16. Medium Investigate the feasibility of a Performing Arts Center.
Objectives 6, 7, 9, 10 and 14 require additional resources beyond the current service level budgets for
Cultural Arts and the Heritage Center. Consequently higher service level budgets will be prepared for
consideration by the City Council at the budget hearing scheduled for June 24, 2003. Objectives 5 and 15
will also require additional resources and will be developed as capital projects for inclusion in the City's
Five Year Capital Improvement Program.
Two additional objectives that may be of interest to the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission were
added by the City Council but included under the Parks and Community Services category of the Goals
and Objectives. These objectives were ranked high by the City Council and are as follows: 1) Explore
Historic Park on Donlon Way; and 2) Explore with DHPA land/cemetery extension feasibility study. As
work progresses on these objectives, the Commission will be involved as necessary.
RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Heritage and Cultural Arts
Commission receive the report on the Adopted 2003-2004 Goals and Objectives.
