Five free concerts w ill be held on Friday evenings, beginning July 9th and ending August 6th, 2004. The concerts are held from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. outdoors at the Dublin Civic Center in the plaza area and feature a variety of musical styles including country-western, rhythm & blues, Motown, classic rock and popular music from the past four decades. In the past this event has fallen under the jurisdiction of the Recreation Division of the Parks and Community Services Department. Currently, with the addition of full time Staff, it is better suited to move the musical series under the purview of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Division of the Department as it falls under the classification of Cultural Arts. Staff is finalizing the selection of artists for this summers series and will have a follow up report in May on the artists selected for each date and their individual background information. Staff will continue with the marketing plan as in previous years. The Tri-Valley Herald will sponsor the concert series. Advertisements will also run on KKIQ, CTV 30, the Valley Times and the City's website. To create awareness of the series, banners will be hung on the light poles throughout the downtown area. Additionally, posters will be hung throughout the community and postcards will be mailed to our customer mailing list and well as advertised in our activity guide. Announcements for the series will be displayed at the marquees at Shannon Park and the Dublin Auto Center along Interstate 580. On concert nights, colorful pennants atop 20-foot poles will be placed around the concert area to draw attention to the concerts. Letters and applications to sell food and beverages at the concerts will be sent to groups on the City's non- profit mailing list. For a nominal vendor fee groups are able to sell a variety of food and beverages at their choice of concerts. The vendor fee provides the, group with tables, chairs and electricity if necessary. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and duplication of food/beverage items will not be allowed.
