SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
May 22 , 1984
The Special Meeting of the City of Dublin Park and Recreation
Commission was held May 22 , 1984 . The meeting was called to order at
7 : 30 p.m. by Chairman Zika, at the Homestead Savings Community Room,
7889 Dublin Boulevard.
Roll Call - Chairman Zika called the roll. All members were present.
There is one vacancy on the Commission, pending council member
Vonheeder ' s appointment.
Hourly Part-Time Staffing Classifications - Commissioners received
proposed job descriptions and salary ranges for Recreation Leader I,
Recreation Leader II, Senior Recreation Leader, Building Attendant,
Recreation Intern and Recreation Specialist positions . Chairman Zika
suggested C.P .R.certification be required of the Senior Recreation
leaders and that First Aid and C.P.R. certification be strongly
encouraged for the building attendants as well .
It was moved by Commissioner Schmitt, and seconded by Commissioner
Donnell, to recommend City Council the resolution amending the
current salary and benefit plan Approved.
Policies, Procedures and Fee Schedule - Shannon Community Center -
Commission received proposed policies, procedures and rental rate
structures for the Shannon Center. It was moved by Chairman Zika and
seconded by Commissioner Schmitt to recommend Council (1) adopt a
resolution establishing policies and procedures for Shannon that pro-
vide a priority reservation time for residents of DSRSD, in order to
make the facility more available to local people; and (2 ) adopt a
Resolution establishing facility rental rates that propose lowering
the existing rental rate to residents of DSRSD in order to encourage
community usage of a community facility. Approved.
San Ramon Valley Community Center Proposal - The SRVCC, Inc . requested
continued usage of Shannon for their (1 ) Summer session of enrichment
classes ;, and (2 ) pre-school program July 1, 1984 - June 30, 1985 ; at
rates of $3 . 50 per hour for the Social Hall and $2 . 00 per hour for all
other rooms .
The Commission questioned how these rates were developed by the SRVCC,
but voted to accept the proposal, with modifications, for the purpose
of facilitating a smooth management transition.
It was moved by Commissioner Schmitt and seconded by Commissioner
Hernandez to recommend continuation of the pre-school operation,
provided that a detailed financial report of program operation,
revenue and expenses be submitted by the SRVCC, prior to December
30 , 1984 . Approved.
It was moved by Commissioner Schmitt and seconded by Commissioner
Donnell to recommend City Council approval of the SRVCC daytime
enrichment classes as submitted but it was recommended that an
additional building attendant fee be charged for evening usage since
attendant must be hired during non-business hours . Approved.
Recreation Department Goals and Objectives - Postponed to June
REGULAR MEETING.
Being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9 :45 p.m.
