PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES
April 25, 1984
A regular meeting of the City of Dublin Park and Recreation
Commission was held on April 25, 1984 . The meeting was called to
order at 7 : 35 p.m. by Chairman Zika, at the Homestead Savings
Community Room, 7889 Dublin Boulevard.
Roll Call - Chairman Zika called the roll with all members
present.
Approval of Minutes - The approval of the minutes of the meeting
of March 20, 1984 was moved by Commissioner Donnell and seconded
by Commissioner Hernandez with all members voting for the
approval as submitted.
Presentation of Proclamation to Dublin Youth Football
Organization - A Proclamation of the City Council was presented
to the Dublin Youth Football organization for their volunteer
assistance and unselfish participation in the organization and
coordination of the 1984 St. Patricik ' s Day Celebration. The
proclamation was presented by Gaylynn Firth, Recreation Director,
received by Ken McNeil, President of the organizations Board of
Directors, and Harold Boscovich, President of the Dublin Youth
Football Organizations Booster Club.
Summer Recreation Program 1984 - The Commission received a staff
report related to program design descriptions and fee projections
for the up-coming Summer programs .
The Commission indicated their support of the program.
Commissioner McCormick asked if a provision for program discount
could be considered for families with more than one child
enrolled in the Direct Discovery Summer Camp. Recreation
Director, Firth indicated that fee projections were based on
minimum numbers of students enrolling and that costs incurred
could not be off-set if minimum enrollment was not achieved; but
agreed to rework budget projections and report analyses at May
15, Recreation Commission Meeting .
OTHER BUSINESS
Chairman Zika asked for a status report of the Alamilla Spring
project. Recreation Director, Firth responded that City Council
asked Planning Department Staff to investigate, through the
County Planning Commission, the status of the easement as
provided when the development was approved. An up-dated report
will be submitted when the information is obtained.
Chairman Zika asked how discussions and negotiations with the
school districts were proceeding in relation to joint use of
school district facilities for recreation programing for the
Summer of 1984 . Recreation Director, Firth explained that both
Districts were supportive of Summer programs and will provide
facility space at no charge this first quarter of operation. It
will be necessary to develope joint use agreements prior to the
start of the year round program which will begin in September.
Recreation Director Firth announced that PG&E will be conducting
an Energy Audit at Shannon Center in early May. The purpose of
the Audit is to- provide DSRSD and the City of Dublin with
information on improving the energy efficiency of the building.
PG&E assured, itaff that the results will be available by the end
of Maya Up-date forthcoming.
