PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Special Meeting Date: July 23, 1985
The July 23, 1985 special meeting of the Park and Recreation
Commission was called to order' at 7 : 35p.m. by Chairperson George
Zika.
Roll- Call
Present: Commissioners Donnell, Hernandez, Ovlen, Schmitt and
Zika.
Purpose-. and- Philosophy. Study. Session
Chairperson Zika vacated the chair to Commissioner Ovlen who
suggested the following process for the study session:
1. Identify where we as a department are now and where
we want to go.
2 . Develop an overall purpose statement which we feel
represents the Departments function.

3 . Identify key elements from that statement to further
. develop.
It was further decided that this meeting would serve as a
brainstorming session with the Director to compile the '
information and come back to the -Commission at - a later meeting
with -a draft.
Purpose
It is the committment of the City of Dublin to develop park,
recreation and human services programs that will provide
diversified and responsive community services for the residents
of Dublin, and to offer programs and facilities that meet the
needs of all socio-economic groups .

Par.k .Development - Plan - The Commission expressed approval of the
RFP for the Park Development Plan. Commissioner Zika wanted to
know why the Final Report could not be presented to the
Commission at the same .time' it was presented to the staff, so
that they could give their input. Staff will check into the
process.
Shannon- -Center -Lease - Diane updated the Commission on the
meeting of the City-District Liaison Committee and informed them
that the City Council will be presented with the proposed lease
at their August 12, 1985 meeting.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9 : 45p.m.
