FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Receive the Report. DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Senior Center offers activities and events that promote healthy living for seniors, and the opportunity to build new friendships through recreation. The following is a summary of the 2016 winter quarter. Daily Attendance 224 226 211 203 210 Total Volunteer Hours 2,936 2,815 3,074 3,521 3,429 The Senior Center experienced a 4% increase in Programs and Activities attendance and a 1% increase in overall attendance. Drop-ins decreased by almost 14%. It is likely that the wet winter caused less people to socialize at drop-in activities and use the lounge. The total volunteer hours increased by 4%. 2 of 3 Summary of the Winter Attendance Comparison Programs showing large increases in attendance were Ukulele Jam Session (+144%), Bunco (+146 %), Path Wanderers (+87%), and Balance and Agility (+56%). The daily lunch program attendance increased 87% from a year ago. December 2015 Highlights • Twelve participants enjoyed a Holiday Factory Tour van trip to Hilmar Cheese Company, Sciabica Olive Oil, Classic Wine Vinegars and Duarte Nursery. • Seventy-four dancers attended the Holiday Dance Escape event on December 11. • New DJ Bill Blankenship hosted an afternoon ballroom dance social on December 18, and included dance lessons for 17 participants. January 2016 Highlights • The City of Dublin City Council presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the following organizations that donated funds for special events, or provided in-kind donations. A total of $2,600 in donations was collected in the 2015 calendar year. Private Donor  Anonymous Donor: $900 Corporate Sponsors  Hired Hands: $700  Palo Alto Medical Foundation: $500  Pleasanton Nursing and Rehab : $500 In-Kind Donations  Parkview Assisted Living: Lunches for 75 guests at the Senior Info Fair.  Brookdale Senior Solutions: Refreshments for 75 guests at three Hometown Heroes and 100 guests at December dances. • Saturday Acrylics Art class with Arthur King moved to Monday afternoons beginning in January. Nine students enrolled in the Monet Acrylics Art class. • DJ Bill Blankenship hosted an afternoon ballroom dance social on January 29, which included dance lessons for 37 participants. February 2016 Highlights • Seventy-one dancers enjoyed music performed by Swing Fever at the Dance Escape event on February 12. • DJ Bill Blankenship hosted an afternoon ballroom dance social on February 26 which included dance lessons for 16 participants. Testimonials • Poon C of Dublin, who donated $100 twice last year, expressed how much she appreciated the opportunity the Dublin Senior Center offers to seniors. She thoroughly enjoys her line dance teacher, Rosa Chan, and her ESL teacher, Louisa. She is thankful to all the volunteers for their friendliness and to those who serve her lunch. • ASL Instructor Sheila Holmes emailed Staff and wrote: On behalf of myself and all the ASL students we offer our sincere thanks to you and your staff for allowing us to sign up at the holiday luncheon.
