YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE
AGENDA STATEMENT
MEETING DATE: June 4, 1998
SUBJECT: Goals and Objectives for 1998/99
EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Committee ranking of activities to address top three issues facing
teens
RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report and Provide Input
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: At the March 10, 1998 the Committee reviewed the results of the
prioritization of activities and programs to address the top three issues facing teens in Dublin, which are
1) Boredom; 2) Costs of Things; and 3) Drugs and Finding Alternatives. Based on the results Staff has
done programming to match a few of the highest ranked activities for the summer quarter. Programming
includes the Dive-ins, Dance at Shannon Center and Late Night Basketball. Since the initial
brainstorming session of programs and activities in January the selection and implementation of activities
and programs has not been revisited. A number of Committee members and Staff have had ideas for
more programs and activities that are not currently on the list. A block party and leadership program
would be two such examples.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Committee review the attached results of ranking programs and activities,
discuss potential new programming ideas and come up with a strategy for setting Goals and Objectives for
1998/99 year.
