YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE
AGENDA STATEMENT
MEETING DATE: March 10, 1998
SUBJECT: Billiards Bash Teen Event/Now The"Lock Out"
EXHIBITS ATTACHED: None
RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report and Provide Input
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: At the February 10, 1998 meeting of the Youth Advisory
Committee, the Committee received a report on the proposed Billiards Bash at Room with a Cue. The
Committee was concerned that the event may be too costly for teens so a sub-committee was formed to
review the event in further detail. The sub-committee reviewed the costs associated with the event and
found that the largest cost was for rental of the facility. In order for the event to cover it's cost, 100
tickets would need to be pre-sold and 50 would need to be sold at the door. Given that the event was only
three weeks away, the sub-committee opted to drop the event and begin planning for an event that would
be easier to plan in the allotted time.
The new event, the"Lock Out",would be a shorter version of previously successful all night"Lock In".
Attached is a flyer of the proposed event. Plans are under way for ticket sales, promotion and event
organization.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Committee review and discuss the plans for the new event. Staff would
encourage all of the Youth Advisory Committee members to participate in this first"kick off" event of the
Committee.
