Goals and Objectives Study Session
Staff has prepared a status report on the 1987 Recreation
Department Goals and Objectives. Of the "20" identified by the
Council, "7" have been completed and significant progress has
been made on "9" others. Included in the report are the goals
and objectives proposed by staff for 1988 . It is recommended
that the Commission review the 1987 Goals and Objectives and
provide input on the proposed 1988 Goals and Objectives.
Aquatic Facilities
Diane reported that recruitment for the aquatic staff will begin
within the next couple of weeks and contact will be made with the
staff of DSRSD so that they may apply if interested. We are
currently recruiting for an Aquatics Coordinator.
Teen Programs
Commissioner Schmitt felt that staff should continue to pursue
teen programming and that contact with the Dublin teens should be
continued also. The Commission concurred.
Volunteer Program
Commissioner Downey asked in what areas are volunteers currently
being used, and what has been done so far to initiate a volunteer
program? Diane replied that volunteers have been used for many of
the special events such as the Halloween Party, and Easter Egg
Hunt, etc. A mail-in volunteer signup form is included in the
brochure each quarter and lists the events and areas where
volunteers are needed. Staff would like to develop a volunteer
program card file which would list the various program areas , the
hours worked and job descriptions. Currently, staff time is not
available to get this type of program started.
Commissioner Hudak wanted to know what happens to the programs if
volunteers are not available? Diane stated that the Recreation
Leaders supplement as needed, but we have to pay them.
