HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.2 Term Expirations for PCS Commissioners ITEM NO: 8.2 Page 1 of 2 STAFF REPORT PARKS & COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION DATE: September 19, 2016 TO: Honorable Chair and Commissioners FROM: Micki Cronin, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services SUBJECT: Term Expirations for Parks and Community Services Commissioners Prepared by Rhonda Franklin, Management Analyst EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Parks & Community Services Commission will receive a report on upcoming term expiration dates for Commissioners. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Receive the Report. DESCRIPTION: The Parks & Community Services Commission Bylaws and Rules of Procedure state in Article III: Section 1. Commission members shall be appointed for terms which run four (4) years beginning in December of even numbered election years and ending in December of an even numbered election year. At the end of a Commissioner member’s term, the Commission member may be reappointed to the Commission in the same manner as the initial appointment. Commission members shall be eligible to serve a maximum of eight (8) years with two (2) 4- year terms. This section applies to all Parks and Community Services Commissioners with the exception of the Student Representative, whose term is for one year, commencing July 1st and terminating on the following June 30th. This year there are two Commissioners with terms expiring in December 2016 and three Commissioners with terms expiring in December 2018. The application period begins October 24 and closes November 18, 2016, with the City Council appointment date scheduled for December 20, 2016. Applications and further details will be available on the City’s website, www.dublin.ca.gov, and at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 100 Civic Plaza, Dublin.
