HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-24-1990 Approved PCSC Minutes CITY OF DUBLIN PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING DATE: MAY 8, 1990 The April 24,1990 meeting of Park and Recreation Commission was Called to order at 7:40p.m. at the Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Chairperson Norb Hudak. Roll Call Absent: Commissioner Downey Present: Commissioner Hudak, Donnell, Hernandez and Jones Oral Communications Jack Climer, President of Dublin Little League, asked if the City was considering dropping user fees at the Dublin Sports Grounds for youth sports groups such as Dublin Little League and Dublin United Soccer League. Chairperson Hudak suggested that this item be placed on the agenda for discussion at the next meeting. Approval of Minutes IT WAS MOVED BY COMMISSIONER DONNELL AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER HERNANDEZ TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF APRIL 10, 1990 AS SUBMITTED. (UNANIMOUS) New Business 1990-1995 Capital Improvement Program The Five-Year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) serves as a planning document in which the City's capital facility needs are identified in terms of scope, cost and the City's projected ability to finance these needs. Preparation of the 1990-95 Capital improvement Program is underway and input from the Park and Recreation Commission is needed in order to prioritize those projects identified under Parks. The Recreation Director reviewed the Dublin Sports Ground Masterplan for the benefit of Mr. Climer who was unable to attend the previous meeting. It was - determined by the Commission that the Dublin Sports Grounds improvements should be split into three phases as follows: Phase I - Softball Field Renovation Construction of New 60' Diamond Drainage Upgrade - East Side of Fields Phase II- Re-orientation of 90' Diamond Drainage Upgrade - West Side of Fields Phase III- Snack Bar Upgrade Additional Storage Unit Construction of Scorer's Booths The Commission then determined the following priorities for the park projects: 1. Shannon Park Renovation 2. Alamo Creek Park, Phase II 3. Park & Pool Signs 4. DHS Football Field Renovation 5. Frederiksen School Kindergarten Tot Lot 6. Senior Center Upgrade 7. Masterplan Study - East & West Dublin 8. DHS Baseball Fields Renovation 9. DHS Girls Athletic Fields Renovation 10. DHS Tennis Courts Renovation (add lights) 11. DHS Outdoor Lighting 12. Dublin Sports Grounds, Phase I 13. Dublin Sports Grounds, Phase II 14. Dublin Sports Grounds, Phase III 15. Murray School Athletic Field Renovation 16. Mape Park Renovation 17. Nielsen School Athletic Field Renovation 18. Dublin Swim Center Upgrade 19. Wells-Cronin Athletic Field Renovation 20. Frederiksen Athletic Field Renovation 21 . Dublin Elementary School Athletic Field Renovation 22. Dougherty Hills Open Space Chairperson Hudak indicated that if Dublin Elementary was approved as the site for a skateboard park that the would like to see this project included with the Dublin Elementary School Athletic Field Renovation. California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference Commissioner Hernandez reviewed the sessions that she had attended. A particularly good session focused on the development of videos to promote your City and/or department. She also attended a number of good sessions on Senior programs and indicated that she would forward the handouts to Bonnie at the Senior Center. Chairperson Hudak reported on the sessions that he attended and strongly recommended the session on how to read blue prints. He also attended a session on city/school agreements which was beneficial. Other Business Commissioner Hernandez reported that the Seniors are upset at the slow progress that is being made on the renovation of Shannon Park. They also requested that the piano not be moved by staff. She also distributed an article on Satanism that she had received at a workshop she attended recently. Staff Reports Diane indicated that the Council awarded the bid for the DHS Stadium Renovation at their meeting of April 23 , 1990. Adjournment Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20p.m.
