Dublin High School Football Field and Track Renovation
At the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting of February 13 , 1990 , it was
the consensus of the Commission that several items need to be addressed on
the project . A workshop session was scheduled for February 27 , 1990 to
further discuss the construction documents and cost estimates for the Dublin
High School Field and Track renovation . Gary Carlson and Ron Lechner of
Beals/Lechner indicated that they would be able to present 75% completed
construction documents and cost estimates .
Beals/Lechner submitted 75% completed construction documents and cost
estimates for the Commissions review. Diane indicated that it will be
necessary to identify items that can be bid as alternates in the event that ,
when bid , the project exceeds the available funding . Staff has initially
identified the scoreboard , the visitor bleachers , the lighting and the
stadium screening as possible alternates .
Mr . Carlson reported that Beals/Lechner met with the School District on
February 15 , 1990 , two days after their meeting with the Parks & Recreation
Commission . He briefly reviewed what transpired at that meeting for the
Commission. The School District anticipates to have the scoreboard donated
by Pepsi or Coca Cola . The Boosters indicated that they would need a sink
in the snackbar , and it was agreed that a sewer connection would be needed .
A waterless facility was discussed , however the City was not in favor
(costs , etc . ) . All parties agreed that the football field should be
regraded and the hump removed . There was a lengthy discussion on the
lighting system , but all parties were in agreement that new lighting was
needed . The plan is to install new poles and rewire using Musco lighting .
The School District listed the priority of the add-on alternates as follows :
1 ) Visitor Bleachers , 2) Track , 3) Scoreboard , 4) Screening , and 5 ) Pole
Vault Cage (School District Alternate) .
Commissioner Hudak felt that everything possible should be done to relocate
the restroom/snackbar facility to the North end . He suggested doing away
with a meter track and to mark it in meters instead , thereby saving money
that could be used towards something else . Mr . Carlson responded that it
could be changed to meters and the all-weather track done later .

George Williams , Dublin resident , indicated that the Booster Club would like
to see the snackbar relocated to the North end so that all the activity
groups can utilize it . Mr . Williams also felt that walkways are needed .

project .
IT WAS MOVED BY COMMISSIONER DONNELL AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER DOWNEY TO
ACCEPT THE PLANS, THE ORDER OF THE ADD-ON ALTERNATES AS SUBMITTED , AND THAT
THE RESTROOM/SNACKBAR FACILITY BE RELOCATED TO THE NORTH END IF POSSIBLE.
