DESCRIPTION One of the 1990 Goals and Objectives adopted by
the City Council was "to investigate the addition of a student
representative to the Parks and Recreation Commission". At the August 7,
1990 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commissiion, the Commission
considered the following items with regards to the student representative;
method of appointment, term of office, role and responsibilities and status
(voting vs non -voting). The consensus of the Commission was that the
student representative should be of junior or senior standing and serve a
one year term. Further, it was recommended that the student representative
be a non -voting member of the Commission and be appointed by the City
Council based on a recommendation from the Commission.
Staff has incorporated these recommendations into the attached Commission
Bylaws and Rules of Procedure. It is recommended that the Commission
review the revised bylaws and, if acceptable, direct staff to present them
to the City Council for adoption.
