DESCRIPTION At the September 24, 1990 meeting of the Dublin
City Council, the Council authorized Staff to enter into a contract
with David Gates & Associates for development of a Park and Recreation
Facilities Master Plan.
One of the components of the master plan is the creation of an
Advisory Steering Committee to provide input on community -wide needs
with regards to park and recreation facilities. The members of the
Steering Committee would be responsible for updating their respective
boards and organizations throughout the master plan process. The
suggested composition of the Steering Committee is as follows:
City Councilmember
Park and Recreation Commissioner
Planning Commissioner
School District Representative
Special Interest Groups
Student
City Staff
It is anticipated that the first meeting of the Steering Committee
will be held in late October to participate in a vision -sharing
workshop to discuss perceived goals, requirements, use patterns and
perceived needs. Additional meetings will be conducted over the next
several months including an issue generating workshop to emphasize
public involvement, participation and authorship in the development of
the master plan.
It is therefore recommended that the Parks and Recreation Commission
appoint a Commissioner and an alternate to the Advisory Steering
Committee to represent the Parks and Recreation Commission on the
Committee. Staff will then solicit participation from those
organizations as shown above, and arrange for the first meeting of the
Advisory Steering Committee.
