DESCRIPTION One of the 1990 Goals and Objectives adopted by
the City Council was "to investigate the addition of a student
representative to the Parks and Recreation Commission". Staff has done an
informal survey on a number of neighboring cities and found that San Ramon
has a student representative on their Parks and Community Services
Commission. The student representative's appointment is for one year,
commencing July 1 and terminating on the following June 30th.
In order to add an additional member to the Commission, the bylaws will
need to be formally amended by the City Council (copy attached). Prior to
taking this action, staff has developed the following items for discussion
by the Commission:
- Method of Appointment
- Term of Office
- Role and Responsibilities
- Status (Voting vs Non -voting)
Once the Commission has addressed each of the aforementioned issues, staff
will incorporate the changes into the Bylaws for review by the Parks and
Recreation Commission prior to adoption by the City Council.
