HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.1 An Update on the Dublin Senior Housing Project CITY OF DUBLIN DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE AGENDA STATEMENT MEETING DATE:March 4, 2004 SUBJECT: An Update on the Dublin Senior Housing Project ATTACHMENT: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Staff will present an update on the Dublin Senior Housing Project on Amador Valley Blvd. The project, being constructed by Eden Housing, Inc., is anticipated to begin in March with a completion date of summer 2005. Eden will own and manage the development. Eden will begin taking applications and provide a phone number as they get closer to completion of the project. For information interested parties should contact the City of Dublin Community Development Department at (925) 833-6610. If there are more applicants than units, Eden Housing, Inc. will conduct a lottery to decide who will live in the units. Dublin residents who are seniors will have a preference over seniors that live elsewhere. All units will be for very low income seniors 62 years and older (one member of household - if two people - must be 62 or older). There will be 53 one-bedroom, 580 square foot, units for lease to fully independent senior(s) (one or two people max). The units will each have one living/dining room area, one kitchen, one bathroom, one bedroom and a balcony. The complex will have a Community Room for functions, a library, a laundry room with coin operated machines, an outdoor patio and terraced area in the rear, as well as areas for tenant gardening plots. A gated resident parking garage will be under the building. CURRENT INCOMES AND RENTS. Current maximum income(These numbers will change in 2005) Income includes Social Security,pensions, savings, investments and any assets 6 units will be available at rents of$413 for seniors whose income is below 30% of area median: $ 19,635 if one person $ 22,435 if two people 8 units will be available at rents of$638 for seniors whose income is below 45% of area median: $ 22,440 if one person $ 25,640 if two people 39 units will be available at rents of$713 for seniors whose income is below 50% of the area median: $ 28,050 if one person $ 32,050 if two people RECOMMENDATION: Receive report.
