HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.2 Volunteer Identification Badges CITY OF DUBLIN DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE AGENDA STATEMENT MEETING DATE:JANUARY 8, 2004 SUBJECT: Volunteer Identification Badges ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Using the City's Identification Badge Policy as a model, Staff will require volunteers to wear a Dublin Senior Center Volunteer Badge while working at the facility. Currently two types of badges are worn at the Senior Center. One badge is a 3" x 1 '/2" white plastic coated badge with Dublin Senior Center imprinted on the top and Volunteer imprinted on the bottom in green, created over ten years ago. Another badge is gold in color and has the name of the volunteer permanently imprinted on the badge in black; it is 3"X 1". Staff proposes ordering badges that are similar to the first badge issued at the Center but gold with Dublin Senior Center imprinted at the top and "Volunteer" imprinted in black below the center of badge under where the name would be placed. A label machine will be purchased to make nametags as new volunteers are scheduled. Permanent nametags may be earned, ordered, and presented at the annual Volunteer Banquet to Volunteers who have earned over 100+hours during a calendar year. Badges will help patrons recognize and identify the volunteers and be used as a tool to regularly recognize volunteers for their time and support given to the Dublin Senior Center. Staff hopes that this change will also help volunteers to keep accurate records of their volunteer hours by providing a designated area to pick-up badges and complete a sign-in/out form each day. This will also allow time for staff or a volunteer coordinator to prepare each volunteer for their assignment that day. By creating this process, we would encourage new patrons to volunteer, while giving ongoing recognition for those volunteers who support the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the Center.
