FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In April 2005, the City Council adopted Dublin's Mission, Vision,
and Values Statements. These statements serve as guidance for the Council, Commissions and Advisory
Committees in their deliberations on various proposals and issues affecting the community. This will
help create a sense of place in the community and provide a high quality of life for residents. Following
is an overview of Dublin's Mission, Vision and Values.
MISSION
The Mission Statement describes "the business" of the City of Dublin. It explains how the elected and
appointed officials will accomplish the City's vision. The Mission describes the differences made in
individuals, the community, the environment and the economy through the City. Following is the City of
Dublin's Mission Statement.
"The City of Dublin promotes and supports a high quality of life that ensures a sake and
secure environment,fosters new opportunities and provides responsive fair treatment of
out diverse community."
VISION
The Vision Statement describes the preferred future of Dublin. It uses language to convey a sense of how
success would look and feel, and reflects the unique goals, values, aspirations and concerns of the
community. Following is the City of Dublin's Vision Statement.
"Dublin is a vibrant city committed to its citizens, natural resources and cultural
heritage. As Dublin grows, it will balance history with progress, to sustain an
enlightened, economically balanced and diverse community."

VALUES
The values are the qualities and beliefs that form the foundation of the City of Dublin. These qualities or
attributes will be used to guide all planning and operations to successfully meet the needs of residents.
The core values describe the qualities of Dublin that are most valued by residents. Following are the City
of Dublin's values.
Building Community
• Promote locations and events that bring people of all ages together
• Provide more venues for family-based activities
• Foster heritage and cultural development
Insuring a Safe Community
• Provide high quality police and fire services to insure the safety of the citizens living in
the community.
• Provide education and training to residents and businesses that would promote public
safety.
Guiding Development
• Assure that development contributes positively to the City's fiscal health.
• Support pedestrian friendly development, transit-oriented development, green building
and environmental responsiveness.
• Respect our neighborhoods', their identity, and aspirations.
• Believe that no part of the community is better than another.
• Promote high quality design and architectural standards in development
Governing
• Be open to the public and community.
• Operate at all times with honesty and integrity.
• Exercise fairness in consideration of issues - we listen to all sides; we respect every
opinion; and we treat all individuals with dignity. Provide a high level of customer
service and responsiveness from City staff to citizens.
• Strive to build an informed community through communication.
• Encourage cooperation with other communities on issues of mutual concern.
Relating to Other Communities and Entities
• Respect the right of each individual community and entity to determine its own destiny.
• Cooperate with other communities and entities, but do not interfere.
• Acknowledge that we will not direct the work of other elected bodies.
Attachment 1 is a copy of the Dublin Senior Center Mission, Vision and Values. This document was
developed as a supplement to the City's Mission, Vision and Values to provide more specific direction
related to Senior Center planning and operations.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Advisory Committee receive the report.
