FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Staff will present a brief summary of the upcoming special events at the Dublin Senior Center for the months of October,November and December. Staff is requesting for the Committee Members to provide input on possible themes for future events. Background On the second Thursday of each month Staff coordinates a Special Luncheon event. Each event includes a hot meal and some form of entertainment that is related to the theme. The ability to produce creative yet elegant decorations and appealing food menus may drive what theme is selected for a given month. A recent survey of participants revealed that patrons enjoy attending the Special Luncheons and don't mind paying the higher fee if some form of entertainment or special program is offered during event. In order to keep up interest in the program and to attract new customers, Staff will be offering some new themed events. In the past, the following themed luncheons have been held: • New Year's Luncheon • Bon Voyage Cruise Luncheon • Friendship Luncheon • Honoring Our Vets Luncheon • Valentine's Luncheon • Polynesian Spirit Luncheon • St. Patrick's Day Luncheon • Western Luncheon • Hollywood Luncheon • Winter Holiday Luncheon • International Luncheon • Octoberfest Luncheon • Spring Fling or Spring Thing • Magical Luncheon • Mother's Day Luncheon • Thanksgiving Luncheon • Cinco de Mayo Luncheon COPIES TO: ITEM NO.: 7.2 G:\SRCTRADVCMTE\Statements\2006\9-07-06 Special Event Themes.doc The other special event program offered at the Senior Center is Crossing Cultures.
