steady growth each month. In addition, there has been growth in the number of new supporters who
receive the monthly newsletter.
Six new "Let's Talk" monthly workshops were offered this quarter which began in January. On the first

Three new movement classes were introduced at the beginning of the new year. The classes were

cooking class called SmartEats Workshop was sponsored by the Amador Valley Adult School in
December, which developed into a SmartEats class that started in January. A new art class sponsored by
the Dublin Adult School has maintained its popularity despite charging a fee. A Writing for Publication
class and a new Landscape art class, sponsored by the Las Positas Community College Quest Program,
each serves over 20 seniors.
The Shamrock Lunch program continues to attract newcomers to the Senior Center. The Lunch Program
provides reasonably priced yet tasty meals while offering seniors an opportunity to get together with
friends. Staff plans to conduct a survey in the near future to evaluate customer satisfaction and receive
ideas on menu preferences.
At the annual December Holiday Luncheon, Dublin Police Officers and the Police office staff served
meals while the seniors enjoyed the sounds of the Dublin High School Chamber Choir. In January, the
musical trio the Swing Notes dazzled the senior crowd with hit tunes from the past. The gifted members of
the Wells Middle School Jazz Band wowed the crowd at the Friendship Luncheon in February. For the
second year, the Rotary Club continues to volunteer to serve the seniors each month at the special
luncheons. In February they provided a carnation,to each guest in honor of Valentine's Day.
The Crossing Cultures Luncheons continue to explore a new country as well as a local restaurant each
month. In January 2006, the Center celebrated the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dog. The food
was provided by the Dublin's Shangri-La Chinese Cuisine Restaurant. In February, patrons discovered
Afghanistan and experienced the delicious food from the new Royal Afghan Restaurant in Dublin.
In December the Trips and Tours Program offered,-two theatre trips to see Mamma Mia and the Garbeau
Dinner Theatre. In January, the seniors enjoyed a trip to Half Moon Bay, and the DeYoung Museum. In.
February seniors enjoyed a progressive lunch in Modesto and the theatre version of the Lion King in San
Francisco.
The increase in documented volunteer hours reflects how the active recruitment of new volunteers has
been successful.
