Committee consists of Staff, two representatives from the Senior Center Advisory Committee and two
representatives from the Dublin Senior Foundation. The Planning Committee has met to give further
recommendations to finalize the various components of the events.
Construction is nearing completion and Staff is preparing a transition plan and opening dates for
consideration by the City Council. The gala banquet event will be held on a Thursday evening. The
Open House will be held two days later on a Saturday. That event will include the official "ribbon-
cutting" for the facility and a"Health& Wellness Fair".
GALA BANQUET EVENT
The Gala Banquet will have a cruise ship theme of"Passport to Adventure". As guests board the ship for
the evening, they will be greeted by the sounds of a steel drum band and have a complimentary photo
taken., During the social hour there will be a no-host bar and passed appetizers. Guests will receive a
complimentary commemorative glass filled with the ship's drink of the day. An art exhibition will be on
display featuring the artwork of local artists who take classes at the Senior Center. The main hall will
feature a sit-down dinner, dessert buffet, live music and a short dinner show. Following dinner, dancing
will take place in the main hall and the casino will open in the lounge and game room.

minimum for seniors. The Foundation will advertise the sale of the engraved sandstone tiles for the
Foundation Donor Walls inside the new Senior Center.

RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE
The Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Saturday will be a free event that will have a Health and
Wellness theme of"A Celebration of Ages — Connecting the Mind, Body and Spirit". Attendees will be
invited to start the day by walking from the existing Senior Center to the new Senior Center for the
Ribbon Cutting. This is similar to how the "Step Out for Senior Centers" events have been started in the
past. Following the walk, the event will begin with a short ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00. Following
the ribbon cutting guests will have a chance to tour the facility with the architect and discuss the public art
with the artist.
The event will feature several components including a vendor fair for providers of health, wellness and
senior services; entertainment and demonstrations in the main hall; a "Healthy Taste of Dublin" featuring
samplings of healthy dishes prepared by Dublin restaurants; health and blood pressure screenings; an art
exhibition featuring the work of students taking classes at the Senior Center; and demonstrations in the
computer lab. The Open House will end at 3:00 P.M.
It is anticipated the senior housing, Wicklow Square, will also open this summer. Staff has notified Eden
Housing of the tentative dates for the Ribbon Cutting and Open House to determine if Eden plans to
conduct an Open House the same day, or have a table at the City's event to promote their services.
RECOMMENDATION
