DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Senior Center strives to provide diverse activities that
strengthen participants'physical, cognitive and mental wellness. The Trips and Tours Program and extended travel
programs, result in multiple benefits for participants. Travel opens up a whole new world of discovery, experience
and lifelong learning. Recurring events, like the daily lunch program, weekly food distribution, and monthly
special luncheons are reassuring and dependable. These activities reinforce community relations and help seniors
maintain nutritional balance.

In reviewing the attendance individually, the attendance of each activity has seen a steady increase while the lunch
program has shown a slight decline. The lunch program continues to provide reasonable yet tasty meals while
offering seniors an opportunity to enjoy getting together with friends and great entertainment. The Dublin Rotary
Club has continued provide volunteers to serve meals at the luncheons.
- The entertainment in September was performed by guitarist and vocalist, Debra Knox from Livermore. Magician,
Ryan Adler amazed the Seniors with his slight of hands tricks at the Magician Luncheon in October. The
November Special Luncheon entertainment was provided by the Wells Middle School Choir. Manny Gutierrez and
his Quartet continue to attract dance enthusiasts to our Dinner Dance Program.
The volunteer banquet this year attracted over 80 volunteers. The food was catered by Checkers Catering. Each
volunteer received an Appreciation Certificate and a Volunteer Tote Bag gift. Entertainment included two
energetic young Irish Dancers who danced to lively Irish music.
Although the numbers don't reflect an increase in volunteer hours, Staff feels that the Center attracts as many
volunteers who help in different ways at the Senior Center. One of the reasons for the slight drop in volunteer
activity is that many long-time volunteers can no longer help in the same capacity due to health issues. One
example is that a volunteer scheduled at the same time may take over the duties left vacant and now takes on
multiple duties taking on responsibility that two volunteers use to support. Another example of reduction of hours
is the former volunteer may have volunteered one hour every day to deliver donations, while the new volunteer may
choose to volunteer one-hour twice a week to pick up and deliver the same amount of donations.
