HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.2 Mission, Vision and Values of the Dublin Senior Center CITY OF DUBLIN DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE AGENDA STATEMENT MEETING DATE:January 6, 2005 SUBJECT: Mission, Vision and Values of the Dublin Senior Center • ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive report and provide input FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Over the next few months Staff will be developing a strategic plan that will provide direction for expanding programs and services for the new Dublin Senior Center. Input on the plan will be solicited from patrons of the Senior Center, the Advisory Committee and the community-at-large. The purpose of the Dublin Senior Center Strategic Plan will help Staff to focus, think long term, determine priorities and develop an appropriate plan of action for expanding into the new Senior Center. The first phase of the exercise will determine the values, vision and mission of the Dublin Senior Center. The Committee will participate in an exercise at the meeting to provide input in these three areas. The following information is meant to help the Committee Members prepare for the exercise. CORE VALUES The core values are the qualities and beliefs that form the foundation of the Dublin Senior Center. These qualities or attributes will be used to guide all plans and activities at the Senior Center to successfully meet the needs of residents. To begin thinking of these core values you should ask yourself, "What the QUALITIES of the Dublin Senior Center that are most valued by patrons?" Focus on qualities and attributes such as warm and welcoming,not features such as classes,programs, events, etc. VISION A vision statement describes the preferred future of the Dublin Senior Center. It uses language to convey a sense of how success would look and feel, and reflects the unique goals, values, aspirations and concerns of the Dublin Senior Center. MISSION The mission statement describes "the business" of the Dublin Senior Center. It should explain how we will accomplish the Senior Center's vision. To begin thinking of the mission ask yourself, "What difference is made in individuals, the community, the environment and the economy through the Dublin Senior Center?"
