SUBJECT: Spring 2009 Subcommittee Accomplishments

RECOMMENDATION: Receive reports
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In February 2009, the Senior Center Advisory Committee
determined four strategies the Committee Members would try to accomplish over the two-year term.
Following are the strategies:
Strategy#1 -Expand availability of Advisory Committee Members to listen to the community
about the recreational and social needs of older adults.
Strategy#2 -Serve as Ambassadors and expand outreach to older adults in the community.
Strategy#3 -Promote and support the proposed Saturday morning programs at the Senior Center.
Strategy#4-Make older adults feel valued in the community.
Then in March 2009, the Advisory Committee formed subcommittees for each strategy and selected a
leader from the Committee for each subcommittee.
The subcommittee leaders will provide an update to the Advisory Committee about their
accomplishments during the spring quarter and plans for the summer quarter.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Advisory Committee receive the reports.
