CITY COUNCIL
DATE: November 15, 2016
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
FROM:
Christopher L. Foss, City Manager
SUBJECT:
Valley Children's Museum Project Presentation
Prepared by: James Rodems, Parks and Community Services Director
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will receive a presentation by the Valley Children's Museum regarding
the level of readiness and development time lines for the proposed Museum planned on
the Dublin Crossing Community Park property.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the report and provide appropriate direction.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
No financial impact associated with this report. With respect to the proposed project, it
is expected that the Valley Children's Museum will be responsible for all development
costs of their 25,000 square foot pad, correlating adjacent areas and any expansion of
parking surfaces required for the increased load to the facility.
DESCRIPTION:
In August of 2016, a preliminary presentation on the conceptual ph ase of the Dublin
Crossing Community Park was presented to the Parks and Community Services
Commission for review and comment. Multiple concepts for certain areas of the park
were presented as options to be considered.
One option for design noted the establishment of a "Parent Paddock" and community
plaza space. Based on the review of this concept the Commission has asked to
consider whether the Valley Children's Museum project might be better suited on
another site in order to accommodate this concept. There was no opposition to the
Valley Children's Museum project just a request to review placement on this site.
As an outcome of the Commission meeting, Valley Children's Museum has been asked
to make a presentation to City Council in order to determine the viability of the project

as well as if current plans can accommodate the potential acceleration of the
development and delivery of this facility.
