Foss, City Manager SUBJECT: Designate Two Councilmembers to Dublin Pride Week Committee Prepared by: Rebecca Parnes, Environmental Technician EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider appointing two of its members to the 2018 Dublin Pride Week Committee. The Dublin Pride Week Committee plans and prepares the annual spring event, which seeks to engage individuals and groups in action based activities to help improve the community. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Appoint two City Councilmembers to the Dublin Pride Week Committee for 2018. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Dublin Pride Week is an annual event that seeks to promote a positive image for the City of Dublin. The primary objective for Dublin Pride Week is to seek ways to engage individuals and groups in action-based activities to help improve the community. At the forefront of this effort is the Dublin Pride Week Committee. The Committee is made up of Councilmembers, City Staff and various community members and community organizations, and comes together to plan and prepare the event. Councilmember participation is a key component of this committee and the ultimate success of Dublin Pride Week activities. Dublin Pride Week will begin the last Saturday in April (April 28) and will continue through the first Saturday in May (May 5). Traditionally, two City Councilmembers have been appointed to serve on the Dub lin Pride Week Committee. In 2017, Councilmember Arun Goel and Councilmember Melissa Hernandez served as the City Council’s representatives. Staff requests that the City Council select two Councilmembers to this committee for 2018. Page 2 of 2 NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: None. ATTACHMENTS: None.
