SUBJECT: Minutes of the March 2, 2017 Regular Meeting of the Senior Center Advisory
Committee
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Senior Center Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the March 2, 2017 Regular
Meeting of the Senior Center Advisory Committee.

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the minutes of the March 2, 2017 Regular Meeting of the Senior Center Advisory Committee.
DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Center Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the March 2, 2017 Regular
Meeting of the Senior Center Advisory Committee.

March 2, 2017
A Regular Meeting of the Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee was held on Thursday,
March 2, 2017 at the Dublin Senior Center. The meeting was called to order at 9:40 AM by CM
E. Mack.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The pledge of allegiance to the flag was recited by the Advisory Committee, Staff, and those
present.
ROLL CALL

Liaison Present: Phillip Tucker, Parks and Community
Services Commission Liaison
Staff Present: Jochner, Phillips
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
3.1 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Staff recognized and thanked Ms. Jerrie Lore who resigned from the Committee. New Senior
Advisory Committee Member Claire Salsman was introduced and welcomed.
Mr. Rich Guarienti, Dublin resident and former volunteer leader of the Trail Trekkers program,
commented that he attended the City Council meeting on February 21, 2017 and spoke
regarding the Senior Center Registration Program item. He encouraged the Committee to send
a representative to attend the Senior Foundation meetings and attended a Senior Foundation
meeting to encourage members to attend the Senior Center Advisory Committee meetings as
well.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
4.1 Regular Meeting February 2, 2017
On a motion by CM Brizee, seconded by CM C. Mack and by a vote of 5-0-0, the Advisory
Committee took the following action:
ACTION
Approved minutes of the February 2, 2017 Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS—None.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS— None.
NEW BUSINESS
7.1 Senior Center Daily Lunch Program
Mr. Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report and
distributed a lunch patron satisfaction survey taken during February 22-23, 2017.

Committee Members commented that the increase in numbers was a reflection of the
improvement in the quality of meals.
ACTION
The Advisory Committee received the Report.
7.2 Annual Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Mr. Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
Committee Members commended the volunteers for their service and were supportive of the
appreciation event.
ACTION
The Advisory Committee received the Report.
OTHER BUSINESS
Liaison Tucker provided a brief informational report on events and meetings he attended over
the past month. He suggested that a Senior Center Advisory Committee member attend the
Emerald Glen Recreation and Aquatic Complex grand opening as well as consider attending the
Splatter event to distribute information regarding the Senior Center and Senior programming.
Liaison Tucker complimented the Committee for their thorough reports to the Parks and
Community Services Commission saying they were always well prepared.
CM Brizee agreed to attend the March Parks and Community Services Commission meeting and
provide the Advisory Committee report.
Mr. Tyler Phillips, Recreation Coordinator, informed the Committee about the traditional St.
Patrick's Day lunch held at the Senior Center on March 17 and the pre-registration deadline of
March 9. Mr. Phillips also informed the Committee of the upcoming Foundation Spring Fling
Bingo Luncheon on March 11.
Mr. Jochner informed the Committee that the Senior Center Registration Fee was approved at
the February 21, 2017 City Council Meeting and that he and Mr. Phillips were working on the
roll-out and marketing of this optional program. There will be a staff report on this topic
presented at the April Senior Center Advisory Committee meeting. Mr. Jochner also reported
on the Senior Center Foundation meeting held on March 1, 2017.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Senior Center Advisory Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 10:28 AM.
