SUBJECT: Youth Advisory Committee Annual Report

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Commission will receive a presentation from Youth Advisory Committee Members on the Youth
Advisory Committee's activities and accomplishments during the 2016-17 term.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the Report.
DESCRIPTION:
The Youth Advisory Committee is comprised of middle and high school students that are appointed to an
annual term by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The current term ends May 31, 2017.
The general responsibilities of the Youth Advisory Committee, as outlined in the Bylaws and Rules of
Procedure, are to:
• Provide input on youth services and programming to the City Council, Parks and Community
Services Commission, and City Staff.
• Address issues that affect youth in the community.
• Assist with the promotion and implementation of youth activities.
• Generate and present an annual report on the accomplishments of the Youth Advisory Committee.
Advisory Committee Members will make a presentation to the Parks and Community Services Commission
on the Advisory Committee's activities and accomplishments during the 2016-17 term.
NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH:
A copy of the Staff Report was distributed to members of the Youth Advisory Committee.
