We remain politically neutral and review projects solely based on the merits of the planned development. On February 20, 2018,we voiced our support for the Ashton at Dublin Station that was proposed by UDR. After reviewing the merits of the project and meeting with the representative of UDR,we felt that the proposed development would indeed benefit the Dublin community. In light of the recent denial on March 6, 2018 by the Dublin City Council for the Stage 2 Development Plan,we'd respectively ask for your reconsideration to engage with the developer to pursue a remedy to this apparent impasse. While a cloud of legal disparity does hang in the balance,we would encourage both parties to attempt to reach a solution rather than resort to legal encumbrances. This benefits neither party in a positive manner and we would lend our encouragement for both parties to seek a solution of common ground outside the setting of a courtroom. So while we know that the Dublin City Council has been verbally chastised for allowing so called 'uncontrolled' housing growth without respect to schools, the City of Dublin is also a transit hub for the East Bay and has an obligation to help resolve the shortage of affordable housing for the work force in our community. The Dublin Transit Center was planned and designated for providing this type of housing and encourages the use of mass transit in place of commuting vehicles. With discussions of SB 827 proceeding quickly in Sacramento that could limit or hamper the control of cities regarding transit development,we ask that the Dublin City Council seek alternative solutions with UDR for the Ashton at Dublin Station development and to finalize a suitable agreement that would allow this last piece of land in the transit area to be completed in a feasible and agreeable manner.
